Sophomore Year
August 2019-May 2020
This year, I have been able to take design classes specific to my major, which has been exciting and challenging to see how broad visual communications design can be.
Thematic Word Book
AD205 Design III
This project allowed us to explore how the visual properties of type and placement can express the meaning of a word and sentence. We were tasked to pick an object and create a 4 page book about our selected object, in which I picked "atis", a Filipino fruit.

Letterform
AD205 Design III
This project focused on making a logo that combines a letterform with an object that we previously drew for the class. I chose to combine an ice cream scoop with the letter "i", using the dot of the i as a scoop of ice cream.

Cube Project
AD205 Design III
This project consisted of six panels of a cube that represented our personal past, present, and future story as a designer. This is one of my favorite projects in my career so far because of the reflective and personal aspect.

Postcard Collection
AD228 Visual Communications
This project consisted of creating a postcard collection of a theme of our choice. I chose to make my collection revolve around the Philippines. Mine were divided into different categories - phrases, food and places. The cover page includes a representation of the Filipino flag and a transparent cover that says "It's More Fun in the Philippines".

Magazine Cover
AD228 Visual Communications
This project consisted of using our InDesign skills to combine a picture of our choice with headlines, titles, and different elements to draw the audience closer to the magazine's contents. I chose to have the magazine be an autobiography.

Magazine and Brochure Design
AD228 Visual Communications
This project consisted of creating a brochure about an art museum and a magazine spread about one of the exhibits or artists in the specific museum. Using the InDesign skills we learned in the class, I chose to cover Andy Warhol featured in the Art Institute of Chicago.

Icon and App Design
AD228 Visual Communications
This project consisted of creating six icons with a theme of our choice and an app design that goes along with the icons. My theme was my hometown, Columbus, IN. Columbus is known for our architecture, so I featured elements from my small town- especially ones that are special and memorable to me. This was another one of my favorite projects because of the reminiscent feel.

Symbols & Logotype
AD206
This project consisted of creating 4 logos of a living thing of our choice. I chose to design a Colorado Potato Beetle, with a detailed, abstract logo and adding text and color.
Page Layout
AD206
This project consisted of creating 3 types of page layouts: column, modular, and alternative. My chosen object was a popsicle, where I could only use provided one stock image.

Design History Book
AD206
For this project, we first wrote an essay about a famous designer. I wrote about April Greiman, who specializes in the New Wave Style. Using excerpts from our essay, I designed a Design History Book that represents her style, consisting of 4 spreads.

Poster
AD206
For this project, we chose an organization to make a large-scale poster for. I chose World Vision International, who works towards helping poverty and providing assistance to the less fortunate. I photoshopped a Stop Sign to present a clear message of "Check Your Privilege". I wanted to make this to make our audience more aware of our privileges, the things in our life that we take for granted, and to encourage people to donate and help in ways they can.

App Design
AD229
For this project, we chose an organization to make an app design for with Adobe XD. This was my first time using Adobe XD, and I loved the design process. I chose Latea Bubble Tea Lounge because I am an avid boba drinker.
